I've been busy getting ready for the fall stamp camp that I attend.  This year we are trading dominoes and since the theme is Pirates, I used a ship image on my dominoes.   When I scanned this, if I tried to crop it too close to the edges, the whole thing got blurry so that is why so much background is included in the scan.

Used the Polished Stone technique on the domino and adhered mixed blues and black seed beads to all of the edges.  I stamped the ship on white shrink plastic with Ultramarine Staz On, shrunk it and adhered it to the domino.  Waiting for the glue to dry between dipping different edges into the seed bead mix was the longest and hardest part of the project.

Can it really be a month since I last posted?  Well my biggest news is that my daughter, Miranda, got engaged.  This year will probably become busier than the last!  They are talking about me making their wedding invitations!  I'm sure there will be shower invites too.

It's been awhile since my last post because I didn't have Google Chrome and with Blogger's switch to that, I couldn't post properly.   So my son put Google Chrome on my laptop and hopefully this will work from now on.  It's been a hot, hot summer.  Hope everyone is enjoying it!

My son turned 23 today and I made him a simple card. He's not into cards but you know us Mom's, I just had to make one anyway. So I decided to try to make it as simple as I could so he might appreciate it and I think he did! He's also into snow boarding so I think he appreciated that. I asked him if I got the angle right and he said, yeah it looks like he's taking off of that little ridge in the snow! Success!

My Shimmer Sheetz Rosette

I've been working on rosettes again and tried one out of Shimmer Sheetz. It is beautiful, but not an experiment that I will repeat because of the time and effort involved. Shimmer Sheetz is mylar and glue doesn't usually stick to it. I had to adhere the pieces of the rosette with staples and I used Glue dots to adhere it to the base and add the decorative layered star on top.

Ribbons and Rosettes for Christmas

I'm finally posting again. I couldn't wait to open my new Ribbons and Rosettes Cricut cartridge and I had to try out making a rosette to be used as a package decoration for Christmas. I welded several images together in the Cricut Craft room to make this rosette without having to glue so many pieces together. This way each rosette is only two pieces instead of 6 or so.

I couldn't get the Floral 3 rosette image to weld correctly in CCR, so I switched to the image called Scallop 3 and it worked out well. I cut both rosettes at 2 inches and then cut a little more than a quarter of an inch off the inner edge of the red rosette. I did it this way because, although I wanted my red rosette to be smaller so the gold rosette would show, I wanted all of the mountain and valley folds to match up exactly. Next time maybe I won't match them up and will just build the rosettes up in more of a pyramid.

I cut the scalloped circle from the Flower 7 image at 1.5 inches for the top circle and added an epoxy sticker. I just used a circle on the back to layer this all onto but could have used a different shape since it won't show. Used Glossy Accents to put all of this together but may try a hot glue gun like Tim Holtz suggests next time for faster drying.

This rosette will be on the present for my friend tomorrow like it is in the photo.
